Blippy's Highlights

Media_httpblippyblogf_fgdkz

Although I already retweeted this Blippy blog post when I read it in my Twitter timeline, I wanted to make a note of it here.

Blippy posted a short post where they shared with the community a new feature: highlights. The "Highlights" section "gives you a quick snapshot of potentially interesting purchases from across the network." In their screenshot of said new feature, you can see a transaction of mine! (Maybe they picked it because of the bright colors?)

How exciting! Thousands of users sharing their purchases and my PackRat XL monthly fee made the cut. (Shout out to the guys and gal at Alamofire!)

Looks like Mrs. OC herself stopped by the post office to mail out all her book orders. I hope my order was shipped in this batch! ^^

Monday.

Some scheduled payments and a snack at work.

(I had some chicken for lunch, but I consumed it before I could draw it.) :S

I don't know what happened, but sometime between Friday and Saturday, the dominoes set at work disappeared. Replacement set acquired in order to keep our sanity.

16 April 2010

First things first! After work on Friday, 16 April 2010, I went to Borders at Plaza Las Américas and purchased the items illustrated here.

On my drive back home, I had to stop for gas.

In the beginning ...

... there was Obsessive Consumption!

Media_httpwwwbookbyit_adhfs

Recently, I've been tweeting about Kate Bingaman-Burt's new book, Obsessive Consumption. I don't remember how it is that I discovered her (maybe it was because of Ashley Goldberg?), but, according to my Flickr Contact List, I have been following her for 16 months. I like her illustrations and am *this* close from subscribing to her zine. I did place an order last week for the Super Duper Limited Edition Pack and I can't wait to, per her suggestion, rub the pages up against my face! ^^

I was unaware of the story (and debt!) behind the illustration project. I currently find myself in an uphill battle with credit card debt, and find her journey (and documentation) inspiring. I have started illustrating my purchases/expenses and I hope to see this endeavor through to the end. I don't plan on profiting from these silly drawings; at the very least, I'll get to fill pages upon pages with quirky sketches! Yes, I'm blatantly copying her style. (Imitation is the most sincerest form of flattery, right?) I'm sure that as the drawings progress, I will discover my own style. In the mean time, her illustrations are embedded in my memory and it will be difficult for me to not see items her way.
